A song for our Trees

Tom Donovan sings at St. Johns. Listowel

Solutions

Fossil fuels

Use renewable energy instead of coal, oil, gas and peat. Use the energy efficiently and waste as little as possible. One day's energy from the sun sea and wind is all we need to rid us of all fossil fuel burning for a year!

Timber

Only buy wood from renewable forests. When trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Wood holds onto the carbon dioxide, helping to keep it out of the atmosphere. We could plant a hundred thousand acres with native broad leaf trees if only we had eco friendly polititians with a bit of foresight and intelligence or even a bit of common sense!

Heat

The polar ice caps actually reflect some of the sun's heat back into space. White reflective sheets covering vast areas of the planet, especially deserts, could take the place of the melting ice caps. Droplets of water would form underneath the sheets during the night--thus creating new vegetation!
